Aerosol Pumps/Sprays Prohibited

Because we have some students,

With Respiratory Disease,

And when you spray deodorants and cologne,

It makes it hard for them to breathe;

You may no longer bring to school;

Spray deodorants and cologne such as Axe;

‘Cause when you spray them they can cause,

A very serious Asthma Attack.

And so that everyone

May safely breathe with ease;

Aerosols and Sprays are no longer allowed

For those who don't comply,

And continue to bring sprays;

These will be taken from them

And put in the trash to stay!

Mrs. Harrelson, our school nurse, has explained to students that only solid stick deodorants and roll-on deodorants are allowed at school. No spray deodorants, cologne or body sprays should be brought to school. This includes, but is not limited to, ‘AXE' deodorizing body sprays. Hair Sprays are also prohibited. These items will be taken up and discarded.

Presently at Smiths Station Junior High we have numerous students who have a diagnosis of Asthma. The prevalent use and overuse of these sprays among students presents a respiratory hazard as they are ‘Triggers' for attacks for many asthmatics.
